Time Bomb's Newest Family Member!
Welcome Nicole Fiumara
Miss Ruth's Time Bomb's New Intern
Miss Ruth's Time Bomb is excited to introduce you to the newest addition to our Time Bomb family, Nicole Fiumara. She is currently completing a BFA in Fashion Merchandising at Academy of Art University of San Francisco. The academy has provided the fundamentals in styling, fashion merchandising, fashion design, and a diverse art foundation. Get ready for our Etsy and publicity photos to get an awesome face lift, to see her influence sprinkled throughout the new store, window displays that will cause a commotion, and a vintage fashion show that will make Manhattan green with envy!
Besides being a full time student she is also a licensed cosmetologist currently creating amazing looks at the cutting edge beauty shop, Lux Salon in Wormleysburg, PA. Nicole has been working as a beauty stylist for years and is phenomenal with color and creating dynamic styles for short hair.
So as we gear up over the next three weeks to re-open our doors we're thrilled to have an incredible, creative, grrrl genius like Nicole on our team. While she is officially a student, we're pretty sure school is in session for the Time Bomb. We can't wait to learn from such a gifted person. Welcome Ms. Fiumara!
Below are examples of Nicole's creative and unique styling work...

The Story of a Life through Belt Buckles
Recently I acquired several belt buckles from the same single source. As I was posting them on our Etsy Store I thought about who the person was that owned these buckles. Occasionally, when someone's possessions is all that is left of them, I try to imagine the story of their lives. What life story do you draw from these pieces?

The Best Decade for Your Body Style!
On Monday, March 19, 2012, the Carlisle YWCA asked me to give a presentation to their Girl Power Club about dressing for your body style. I presented researched information about hourglass, apple, pear, and rectangle figures and sprinkled in some of my own personal experiences. I found it particularly difficult to display these "rules" as concrete. I wanted the girls to know that fashion is art and they should not be afraid to experiment and have fun, after all this is how one develops their own personal style. However, just like a student of art, one must first learn the fundamentals before they start breaking through the lines and creating something personal and new.
In fact on this particular day I was wearing a vintage, empire waist, baby doll, grunge revival dress, over a 1970's Gunne Sax ruffle slip, and brown cowboy boots. One of the rules for dressing an hourglass figure is to avoid empire waist garments. I was a walking hypocrite and getting compliments all day long! So I hope I left the girls with the idea that they should keep these rules in mind as they build their unique, experimental, personal wardrobes.
With this in mind I wanted to share with my Time Bombers some guidelines on the best decade for your body style. But please remember to break the rules and be creative with your style!
So there you have it! But remember, no matter what your body size, be sure to have fun with fashion and wear what you love. You can easily find something to love at Miss Ruth's Time Bomb's Etsy Shop! Use coupon code "blogmember" and receive 15% off your order!
And be sure to check out our latest email reminder for information regarding the Rillo's Ladies Night Out: Food and Fashion event. Miss Ruth's Time Bomb will once again be taking the stage and this year we're bringing the circus to town!

HOUR GLASS FIGURE
You know you have an hour glass figure when your bust and hips are almost the same measurements and your waist is 9 inches smaller than your bust and hips.

Pictured here is Jasmine writer of Vintage Vandalism modeling Mode Merr. If you have an hour glass figure then 1950s pin-up style is perfect for you. High waisted pencil skirts that highlight your small waistline and hug your beautiful curves should be one of the staples of your wardrobe.
APPLE FIGURE
You know you have an Apple figure if you tend to hold your weight in your bust and belly.
The 1980s was the birthplace of some great designs and many of them look fabulous on an apple figure. This 1980s dress from Some Girl's Vintage creates the look of a slender waste line and drapes beautifully over the hips.
RECTANGULAR FIGURE
Rectangle shaped women have little curves and their bust, waist, and hips ratio doesn't vary very much.

The 1920s created fashion especially for those of you with rectangular figures. Christen pictured here is wearing a 1980s Liz Claiborne dress, for sale at Miss Ruth's Time Bomb's Etsy Store, it replicates a 1920s design. Her figure makes this drop waist dress look amazing!
PEAR FIGURE
Women with pear shaped bodies have a smaller bust line and a significantly curvier hips
If you have a beautiful pear shaped body then dress yourself in the great fashion of the 1970's. Much of the designs of the 70s included empire waistlines and a beautiful drape to the hipline. Think maxi dresses and skirts. What a great way to celebrate your shape! This maxi dress can be found for sale at Screaming Mimi's Vintage

It's a Wonderful Life... When You Wear Vintage Fashion!
Happy Holidays Time Bombers! Last evening while watching It's a Wonderful Life my heart was aching not only for George Bailey but also because of the beautiful vintage fashion. I have collected the best images of the costumes that were available and shared them with you. Take a look and feel the inspiration! Personally, I wish George had married Violet, got out of that old town, and headed out in the world with glitz and glamor!

I included this picture because I love the collar on Mary's dress. |

Violet is my favorite character! Her hat here is unbelievable! I hope to one day wear one just like it! |

If I owned this dress I would wear it 24/7! Not to mention the gloves and bag are positively perfect! |

Mary's dress again is very pretty. |

I love how put together Mary looks. I wish I was that polished. |

Again Violet steals the scene! This blazer's detailing is simply gorgeous! |

You can see the blazer's sleeves here, how perfect! |

Here is a colored picture of Mary's collar. I just love the fine detail. |
I am a huge fan of three piece suits and George's in the movie is beautiful, unfortunately this was the best image I could find. It was tweed and built perfect. Isn't Jimmy Stewart dapper! Here is a link to the full movie in color. I hope you love it! Don't forget to shop at our Etsy Store! |

Ode to Euzine
If you've ever had the pleasure to stroll into Miss Ruth's Time Bomb on a Thursday then you may have met the one-and-only Euzine. Euzine is the Grand Time Bomber that tends to the store on Thursdays. I first met her when she asked me over to her astounding apartment to buy some vintage pieces. She informed me she was changing and wanted to revamp her style, getting rid of old pieces was the first step in the process. I became completely enamored and knew I needed her to be a part of the Time Bomb world. Since our initial meeting Euzine has influenced my style and life. One of the most fashionable woman I have ever met, it is no surprise that she is a faithful subscriber to Vogue and has just renewed her subscription for the next two years. We share a love for movies and our conversations about films are some of my favorites. I can only dream that one day my own home could be a fragment of hers, and I am determined to live my life with the gusto that she has lived hers! Euzine should be celebrated and known by all. But don't take my word for it, stop in on a Thursday between 12-4 and decide for yourself.

For the Love of Holiday Vintage
It happens, once a year we break out our prized vintage treasures and treat ourselves to a night out in these delicious pieces. We smile while the candle light catches the sequence in a fantastic 1980s sweater. Our friends compliment us on the way we accessorized a 1970s silver and black maxi, and we bask in the attention that an elegant green 1960s cocktail dress brings. We know exactly what we're doing when we head our the door, we're letting the world see us shine in our vintage best. This holiday may all my Time Bombers shine like the brightest star on top of the tree and fill rooms with their spirited style! We thank you and look forward to another year of dressing the most awesome fashion minded people in the world the Time Bombers!

The Time Bomb Experience
Hello Time Bombers! Miss Ruth' s Time Bomb is finally beginning a blog. The purpose of our blog is to share the Time Bomb experience, conversations, and love of vintage with you. Not everyone can make their way to our brick and mortar store or attend our famous Stitch-N-Bitches on Tuesday nights, but with our blog you can be a part of the continuing dialog that is Miss Ruth's Time Bomb!
The Time Bomb is not simply about buying vintage clothing, but an overall experience. The feeling you get when you find a piece that appears to have been made just for you, the feel of that metal zipper closing perfectly over your body or the disappointment in the realization that the dress you love, simply doesn't love you back. The squeals from girlfriends who approve whole heartedly of your new find and the annoyance when a friend simply doesn't get it. These experiences are tangible and real. From the moment we say hello to the time one of our customers leave, we share something and now we want to share that with you, our virtual Time Bombers!
